Day 1 – Raw Food Cleanse

Today is Day 1 of our 5-Day Cleanse.  Yesterday I went shopping at Trader Joes and since we are not following a specific diet or protocol, I just picked out things we like to eat, buying as organic as possible.  Here is the shopping list:

Leafy greens – Kale, Baby Spinach, Romaine Lettuce,

Veggies – Carrots, Tomato, Avocado, Cucumber, Red, Yellow, and Orange Peppers,

Fruits – Lemons, Grapefruits, Oranges, Bananas, and we have about a gizillion pears on the tree in our yard that are just getting perfectly ripe.  BTW, please come in to the office and pick some up – help us eat them before the squirrels do!

Nuts – Raw Almonds, Cashews, and Sunflower Seeds,

I also picked up a couple of quarts of 100% Cranberry Juice – it is great for the liver and makes the smoothies taste great.

I filled the sink with water and a cup or so of vinegar and soaked all the produce since we want to consume the least amount of toxins as possible.

Today we eat all Raw. No sugars, dairy, processed foods, or alcohol.  We did each have a cup of coffee this morning – and trust me we used our REALLY BIG cups.

Barb is at a class all day, so last night she made a salad to go and cut up fruits and veggies for snacks and dinner.  I made us a breakfast smoothie for us this morning with banana, frozen strawberry, leafy greens, almonds, and protein powder.  I also threw some fiber and Vitamin C in the blender.

After today, the next three days will be all liquid and all raw.  We have a blender and a Nutri-Bullet so we should be able to juice at home and at the office.  On Friday we will eat solid food again but stay raw.
