Success will depend on a number of factors, but the single most important key is: COMMITMENT
May I suggest you sit quietly and think seriously about WHY you wanted to lose the weight in the first place. Was it to look good in a swim suit? Did you want to feel healthier and have more energy? Did you want to be able to play with your children or grandchildren? Or have you developed a weight related health issue?
Once you find your WHY, write it down and put it in a conspicuous place – maybe the mirror in your bathroom or in the kitchen. It is important that you always keep your WHY in mind, because everyday will require you to make decisions on your food choices and you want to make those decisions based on what is best for your life and your family in the long term, and not succumb to short term pleasure.
In Part 2 we found that everyone loses weight differently – we are all different people and we all lose weight differently. Some of us are comfortable with a high protein diet, some with a high complex carb diet, and others with a reduced calorie diet. Well, the best way to lose weight is also the best way to keep that weight off. This means that you want to make your diet consistent with your weight loss method. For example, if you lost your weight using a high complex carb diet and you are comfortable with that, you want to continue to limit your meat intake, and keep eating primarily fruits and vegetables.
There are three things that we all should limit or eliminate from our diet regardless of our weight loss method:
1. No more Soda. And if you must have a soda, drink regular – not diet. And if you must drink a regular soda, find one with real sugar, not high-fructose corn syrup.
2. No trans-fat or hydrogenated oils. Read the labels and stay away from these – they are toxic and addicting.
3. No MSGs. The labels for foods containing MSGs can be misleading because it comes in many names, so watch out for any strange sounding spices. Also, MSGs are in a lot of fast foods so that is another good reason to stay away from them.
What You Do With Your Body
Light exercise will not only help burn calories, but will also keep toxicity levels lower. You do not need to go to the gym and lift weights everyday – unless of course that is what you enjoy doing. Find something fun like walking the dog, yoga classes, biking or swimming. The important thing is to just keep moving.

When we look at the WHY we want to lose weight and keep it off, we want to remember what our lives will be like if we do not. When we are overweight, we have less energy, we feel physically and mentally sluggish, we develop low self-esteem, and often, the extra weight interferes with our enjoyment of our lives and our families.
