We are all toxic. Everyone of us eats, drinks, and breathes 84,000 chemicals that we are exposed to everyday. Sure, we can wash our food, try to eat healthy and organic, purify our water – but the truth is that we can never be toxic free because we live in a toxic world.
Toxicity is one of the three causes of all health issues, along with stress and trauma. The U.S. ranks 50th in the world in life expectancy and is #1 in obesity, diabetes, and other chronic diseases caused by toxicity.
That is why it is so important to detoxify our bodies periodically. Our body’s have filters such as the liver, gall bladder, and kidneys. Just as we need to clean the filters on our cars and our furnaces, we also need to clean the filters in our bodies.
Last February Dr. Barb and I cleansed using the 14 day detoxification program from Designs for Health. This is an excellent program that has helped many of our patients not only cleanse, but also lose weight. It is an easy program to complete and afterwards we felt great and had more energy.
Our Bodies are telling us that it is time for another detoxification, and since Dr. Barb has been studying Raw Food this year, we wanted to incorporate Raw Food into our cleanse.
We are still putting the plan together, but so far we plan to start on Monday with an all Raw Food Day to get our bodies acclimated – fruits, veggies, and nuts. Then we will drink only juiced fruits, vegetables, and nuts (mixing in protein powder and vitamins) for three days which will provide us with the essential nutrition and enzymes while letting our digestive systems rest and relax, followed by a last day of solid Raw Foods. We will consume no sugar, processed food, or alcohol, but we will be drinking plenty of pure water. Since we both love coffee we will be facing a difficult challenge there. Our only cheating will be one cup of coffee each morning and if we get a headache or feel nauseous, we will drink Green Tea to take the caffeine edge off a bit.
During a cleanse it is important to be nice to our bodies, so we will doing only light exercise, getting lots of sleep, and maybe an ionic footbath our two to help get the toxins out of our body where they belong.
